Matt Galyer

Matt is a guide with years of hard-earned experience in the mountains and bush. Starting young, he’s spent a lifetime studying how animals move, think, and react—developing an almost instinctive ability to read terrain, anticipate behaviour, and position hunters for success.

Across steep alpine faces and dense native scrub, Matt’s reputation comes from elite fieldcraft: he can pick up the smallest sign, map wind and contour shifts in real time, and predict where game will travel long before it appears. He specialises in red deer, wild pigs, tahr, and chamois—delivering hunts that feel precise, controlled, and deeply connected to the land.

Clients value him for his calm leadership, sharp decision-making, and the confidence that comes from hunting with someone who’s spent a lifetime mastering New Zealand’s wild country.

Vinnie Capes

Vinnie is one of New Zealand’s top bow‑hunting guides, known for elite precision, calm control under pressure, and a technical mastery of close‑range hunting that few can match.

His specialty is getting hunters inside bow distance—reading wind, contour, animal behaviour, and micro‑movements with a level of awareness that feels almost surgical.

At the same time, he’s equally fluent in firearms—ballistics, optics, rifle platforms, and how each tool performs in New Zealand’s terrain. Hunters rely on him not just for guiding, but for optimising their entire setup.

In the field, Vinnie blends technical knowledge with sharp instinct. He specialises in bow‑range stalking, equipment tuning, and precision shot placement—delivering hunts that are disciplined, efficient, and built around the highest standards of skill.
